Progress on
Difference Equations
The 15th edition of the PODE conference series brings researchers in difference equations, discrete dynamical systems and functional equations to Sarajevo — a city where east and west have been solving the same problems side by side for five centuries.
The conference
A forum for young and senior researchers alike
Progress on Difference Equations — PODE 2027 will be held at the Hotel Hills, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on 26–30 May 2027.
This is the 15th conference in the series, which has been running since 2007. Since 2017 PODE alternates with the European Conference on Iteration Theory (ECIT), and the meeting in Sarajevo continues the tradition of the previous editions.
The conference aims to be a forum where doctoral students, early-career researchers and established scientists present their work and discuss the latest developments in difference equations, discrete dynamical systems, functional equations and their applications — from mathematical biology and economics to numerical analysis and control theory.
Three days of lectures, a single track for plenaries, and enough coffee breaks for the conversations that actually move a field forward.
xₙ₊₁ = r xₙ(1 − xₙ)
— period doubling from r = 2.85 to r = 4.
Plenary lectures
Invited 50-minute lectures opening each half-day of the meeting.
Contributed talks
25+5-minute talks in parallel sessions, plus a dedicated session for PhD students.

The host city
Sarajevo, where Europe changes alphabet
In the old town, within four hundred metres, you can walk past an Ottoman bazaar, an Austro-Hungarian boulevard, a synagogue, a cathedral and a mosque. Sarajevo is a compact capital of some 400,000 people, surrounded on all sides by mountains that hosted the 1984 Winter Olympics.
Late May is one of the best times of the year here: around 22 °C, long evenings, and a coffee culture that takes the word slow seriously.
